Camping World’s Ultimate RV Show will be held October 8–11 at Pechanga RV Resort in Temecula. More than 300 new and used RVs, new models, and camping gear will be featured, with free admission and parking.
The NWS said tropical moisture and an approaching front could raise the potential for flash flooding across southern Utah on Sept. 28–29. Zion campers should separate lodging plans from canyon-entry decisions and prepare backup itineraries.
A band from near Ruidoso through Roswell to Clovis received 2–6 inches of rain in the previous 24 hours, and a flood watch remained in effect through the night of September 25. Bottomless Lakes campers should prepare for additional showers and possible flooding on low-lying roads.
A Wind Advisory was forecast for Long Island from 2 p.m. on September 25 through 6 a.m. on September 27. Campers at Hither Hills in Montauk should consider the effects of wind on high-profile vehicles as well as weekend parking restrictions.
Capitol Reef’s Fruita Campground operates by reservation year-round, and standard sites have no individual hookups. In fall, generator use is limited to C Loop at set hours, so RV travelers should check site length and power plans together.
At Bryce Canyon, North Campground accepts reservations up to six months in advance, while Sunset opens up to 14 days ahead. After choosing an RV-suitable loop, travelers also need to account for viewpoint parking restrictions for vehicles 23 feet and longer and plan sightseeing around the shuttle.
The Hoh River Bridge will be fully closed from Sept. 24 through Sept. 29, severing the Highway 101 route between Kalaloch and Forks. Kalaloch is now in its first-come, first-served season, and a trip that also includes the Hoh Rain Forest requires separate travel planning.
Under the Yosemite Dome Fire closure order dated September 23, Glacier Point Road and designated trail areas were closed. Travelers should distinguish between Valley campground reservations and access to overlooks, and check for smoke and on-site notices even at campgrounds that remain open.
Several rounds of rain were expected around Kearney, Nebraska, through the morning of September 26. Fort Kearny campers should monitor accumulated rainfall, possible ponding in low-lying areas, and fog that may linger after the rain eases.
